I am truly touched and amazed by this story!! I can't believe how horridly some people will treat an animal, it sickens me to the core, because like this story, you never know how great an animal is if you are mean and hurtful to them. Being made to fear for no other reason than a human's mean nature is beyond me.
I not only speak out about abuse, being physical, mental and verbal, but I speak against abuse like this to animals as well. One man in my city locked his husky rottweiler in a room while he went out drinking, he came home hours later and found that the dog had piddled.
He, in his drunken state, beat the dogs teeth out, kicked and stabbed the poor dog, and was malnourished, forced to eat it's own feces, this man is in jail, where he belongs, for 4 years solid. He has to pay the kennel $25,000, probation, community work service after his sentence, and can't ever own an animal again!
I am so touched by Jasmine, that it gives me great hope that other shelters and kennels might hope to find an animal like her that is caring and loving, and obviously grateful for the second chance that she was given in her life.
I love Jasmine greatly, as she so deserves it. You are very lucky to have her. God bless her and all of you for the work that you do.

I could put every one of those animals to work. Can you imagine the money I would make pitting a deer against Jasmine?

I think Greyhounds for the most part are very natural mothers. Esp. ex racers. I hear the same stories all the time about ex racers fitting in a new house hold with no problems at all.
I have a neighbor who adopted 2 male ex racers at the same time and she brought them into her house with 2 tomcats. Within 2 days all 4 were eating out of the same bowl. Amazing!!!

This is a wonderful, inspirational story and I see these stories as examples of how people deny the true emotional depth of animals. It also made me think of the story of Ginny, the dog that rescues stray cats. I decided to look up Ginny and her person Philip Gonzalez and I found a website for anyone interested: www.ginnyfanclub.com

Could we place a link on this website? Thanks very much.

what a load of crock!!!!
one pic actually showed like 6 animals all sitting comfy on a lounge and not eating each other up... so why aint all the animals in that pic getting the same accolades as the greyhound?? the owl (prob doctored) sitting on the dogs back seems just a little small to my untrained eye... just cause one dog dont eat it doesnt mean all the other 4 animals will leave it alone!!!!

I found out this story from a magazine at my vets. Thought it was so wonderfull that I had to google it and read more. She looks so incredibly gentle. I suddenly remembered that a few years back, when I was a single Mum with a 4 yr old boy, a friend has asked me to look after their dog for a few days. I believe it was a greyhound, actually gray, althought it might have been the lurcher. Anyway, she too spent long hours on the sofa with my boy snuggled upto her and asleep! I said that she babysat for my son. What gentle, beautiful dogs. Very heartwarming story, thank you for sharing it!
