FOUND Animals and their People Gallery
FOUND (www.foundmyanimal.com) designs collars and leashes to help raise public awareness of the urgent need for animal adoption. 25% of ALL our profits go directly to the Louis Animal Foundation, a unique non-profit group dedicated to spaying/neutering and providing homes for animals who have not yet ‘found’ their people. Our founder rescued Walter, one of her adopted pups, through the foundation and was inspired to donate a large portion of our profits to such an important organization.
About Louis Animal Foundation:
Somewhere between 10 and 15 million dogs and cats die each year. Some are abandoned, some turned over to shelters where the vast majority are killed and some die in misery on city streets or in the country from starvation, accidents or acts of cruelty. The Louis Animal Foundation is named in honor of Herbert & Daisy Louis. In their memory, and in memory of all the Louis animals extending back nearly 100 years, the Foundation, founded by Barbara Louis, seeks to solve some of the underlying problems of animal overpopulation. Scott Adams, creator of the cartoon Dilbert, recently lost his cat Sarah. The story below is sad but filled with love.
Link: Dilbert.com – My Cat
Soon after I started cartooning, about 19 years ago, I got my first pet, a kitten. I named her Sarah, after an editor who gave me my big break in cartooning.
I found the kitten from an ad in the paper. A local woman’s cat had a small litter in need of homes. They were little tuxedo cats, mostly black with white paws and mixed faces. The woman put them on her sofa as sort of a line up from which I could choose. Three of the cats ignored me, walking to one end and playing amongst themselves. The fourth stared me straight in the eyes and approached. She selected me. Or at least that is how it felt. She made me feel special from the first second I knew her, and I hoped to return the favor. From Parade Magazine 01/11/2009

Cesar Millan is honored that so many people look to him to help them enjoy more fulfilling relationships with their dogs, but the truth is that the dogs themselves have been his teachers. The most valuable lessons he’s received have come from animals. Here are some of the ways dogs have helped him become a better, happier, and more-balanced human being.
Live in the moment.
People often wonder how I get such quick results with the dogs I rehabilitate. The answer is simple: Dogs live in the moment. They don’t regret the past or worry about the future. If we can learn to appreciate and focus on what’s happening in the here and now, we’ll experience a richness of living that other members of the animal kingdom enjoy.Nurture a balanced life.
I tell my clients to follow this simple rule with their dogs: Offer exercise, discipline, and affection every day. Do the same for yourself. We humans are happier if our routines include physical activity, a sense of structure, and the opportunity to give and receive love on a daily basis.Trust your instincts.
Animals don’t care about words. They recognize that what’s really going on in any interaction is beneath the surface. Many of us have lost touch with this all-important instinctual part of our natures. By paying attention to nonverbal cues such as body language and energy, we can learn more about our friends, our loved ones, and ourselves. [continue reading about Great Pets…]
