Mary and Lucky

Mary & her husband Jim had a dog, Lucky.   Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy.

Inevitably someone would forget and something would come up missing. Mary or Jim would go to Lucky’s toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky’s favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer…. Mary and Lucky

Monty the Airedale

Monty looks like the fuzzy Airedale we had when I was was a kid. For adventure I’d drag a sleeping bag into the woods beside our home and sleep on the ground, with Ginger sleeping against me. I always felt safe. This photo is from atconc on Flickr.

Yoda vs. Iguana

Roy had to intervene in a fight in his backyard between his dog Yoda and an iguana. (This is Key West — I’ve never seen such a lizard in my backyard.)  This would be a karmic nightmare for our cats — a lizard bigger than they are.

Thanks to Roy for the photos.

Petfinder.com

Petfinder.com, the largest pet Web site on the Internet, is working to change the problem by connecting homeless animals with the people who want them. Petfinder works almost like an Internet dating service. It allows prospective adopters to search their database of available pets based on search criteria such as breed, age, size and gender.

Petfinder.com opens animal shelters and rescue organizations to adopters across the country via the Internet. Both large and small animal groups can display their inventory of animals in a user-friendly format, and prospective adopters can easily find what they want. From mice to horses, Affenpinschers to Yorkshire Terriers, Petfinder has all kinds of animals for adoption.
